Director of IT (e-commerce)

Our CLIENT is looking for a hands-on Director of Information Technology with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a fervent desire to help us build a world-class company and grow our knowledge base. The Director IT is responsible for maintaining and expanding our computer networks. The role is highly cross-functional requiring attention to detail, project management and execution skills and the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously.
An ideal candidate will be able to manage our WAN, LAN, SAN, Cloud and BYOD computer platforms across varying operating systems and technologies, while looking for ways to grow our networks in a cost-effective way to meet future needs. The Director of IT will be responsible for developing network maintenance and growth plans, creating annual and project budgets, managing the IT staff and keeping the executive team up to date on the latest networking technologies that could help the company to succeed. This is a very broad role that provides exposure with many facets of the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage information technology and computer systems
  • Plan, organize, control and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  • Provide internal technical support
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
  • Design, develop, implement and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Monitor and manage network and server systems; set up security parameters
  • Provide support for applications and databases; diagnose and repair computers and network hardware
  • Provide training to end-users on applications, technologies and equipment
  • Create detailed process and procedure documentation
  • May perform special projects; other duties as assigned
  • 10+ years of experience providing IT support in a technical e-commerce environment, including 6+ years of experience managing an IT team
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field
  • Proven ability to manage personnel
  • Comprehensive understanding of network architecture and client/server technology and data security
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, including implementation and management of Azure, Powershell, Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint
  • Experience in an e-commerce environment
  • Experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry
Strong knowledge of:
  • Linux and Windows Server management and troubleshooting
  • PCI and PII compliance standards
  • Cloud based Authentication Directory experience - Ability to create, edit, delete users and manage permissions, policies, and ACL’s
  • RADIUS authentication and management
  • Web management including domain management and security certificates
  • DNS (Authoritative and Recursive) and DHCP management
  • Mobile Device Management in a BYOD environment
  • AWS and RackSpace cloud server and network design and management
  • Terminal Services and Citrix
  • Virtualization technologies – Hyper-V, VMware, etc.
  • Cisco Meraki firewalls, routers, switches, VPN, VLANs
  • Relational database management
  • Disaster Recovery Planning
  • Ecommerce systems, payment processors, gateways, and WMS systems
  • Data security and retention
  • Change control systems
  • VOIP systems
  • Security Incident and Event Management and Intrusion Detection Systems
  • Service Desk management
  • Wordpress site management and security
