We are currently helping our client, a privately funded and mission-driven organization, with their search for a Data Analyst to join their growing team.

The Data Analyst will research and draft timely, relevant, and interesting content on behalf of the organization with the aim of growing the organization’s user base.  This position will be responsible for following the news cycle and drafting written content in response to major events, conducting research to support our client's product suite, draft written analysis, and support additional content needed by internal teams, stakeholders, and partners. This position resides on the product team.  Candidates should have previous research experience, be engaged in current events, and have a natural curiosity about public policy.
Key Priorities and Responsibilities
  • Follow the news cycle and draft written content in response to major events
  • Recommend themes and research problems that will lead to the creation of interesting, relevant content
  • Conduct research to support out client's content and products; analyze government data through exploratory analysis and communicate research findings to audiences
  • Ideate, outline, and draft written analysis based on research, and lead content creation process where applicable
  • Conduct analysis on data from new sources as needed, and recommend additions and improvements to data
  • Support additional content needed by partners, internal teams, or stakeholders
  • Respond to customer emails, and document questions, improvements, or suggestions
The Ideal Candidate
Required Experience and Skills:
  • BS/BA degree in policy or social-science related field and 0-2 years of experience in public-policy and data-related roles
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Ability to query and analyze datasets and identify interesting findings
  • Interest in public policy, government, and current events
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outgoing individual with exceptional communication and people skills
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to bring people together to achieve common goals
  • Self-starter who can work in a fast-moving and rapidly evolving environment
  • Great organizational skills
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Proficiency with of statistical software (R, SPSS), business intelligence software (Power BI, Tableau), and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to query APIs and datasets using SQL, Python, R or other query languages/methods
